27 Nov 19: The value of federal government contracts going to small and medium enterprises has increased by almost 30%. Government procurement targets aim for at least 10% of all contracts by value to be sourced from SMEs, with 35% of all contracts having a value of up to $20 million. But recent procurement data shows 25.9% of all contracts for goods and services were supplied by SMEs in 2018-19, an increase of 18.2% from the previous year. Meanwhile, this year 41.9% of contracts valued up to $20 million were awarded to SMEs, up 39.8% from last year.
